YouTube plans to end ads targeted ads in videos for kidsÂ
Targeting young minds
YouTube has been under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for violating children’s privacy laws. This was after consumer groups complained that YouTube had been collecting the data of children under the age of 13, which is a violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
YouTube officials now plan to end “targeted†advertisements in videos kids are likely to watch. This change might cost the company millions of dollars in ad sales, according to a Bloomberg report.Â
