‘Continue ban on milk imports from China’  Â

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has recommended that the ban on import of milk and milk products from China should be extended further till laboratories at ports are upgraded to test chemical content of ‘melamine’.
The ban on import of milk and milk products from the neighbouring country was imposed in 2008. The ban has been extended regularly. FSSAI reviewed the matter recently and decided to recommend a further extension of the ban on milk and its products, including chocolates and confectionary, shipped from China.

Online retailers of baby care products that seek information about children from their parents could run afoul of India’s proposed data protection law. E-commerce giant Amazon and digital parenting networks FirstCry and Parentlane as well as Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Center are among companies that offer services such as age-based content, recommendations or discount coupons to parents who share specific information about their children.
India is currently debating a proposed law on data protection that suggests barring companies from profiling, tracking or targeting children with advertisements. It proposes strict restrictions on companies that operate commercial websites or online services directed at children or process large volumes of personal data related to children.
