Nutrilite – No herbs, only extractsÂ
Not so real   Â
The advertisement of Nutrilite by Amway claims “1 Tulsi Tablet = 100 dried organic leaves of Tulsi herbâ€, implying that having 1 tulsi tablet will give the benefits of 100 organic tulsi leaves. It also claimed that it had “Certified Organic and DNA Fingerprinted herbs with the promise of Purity, Safety and Potencyâ€. We brought the attention of Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) to this advertisement and requested them to ask the advertiser to substantiate the claims.
After studying the response from the advertiser, ASCI concluded that the advertiser is not using the herbs as such in the product but is using their extracts whereas the advertisement headline presents the product range as “Nutrilite Traditional Herbs Rangeâ€. Both the claims don’t mention the reference to extracts. Based on these observations, it was concluded that the claims were not substantiated. The advertisement contravened Chapters I.1 and I.4 of the ASCI Code. The advertiser has been asked to withdraw or modify the advt.Â
