Help us spot misleading advertisementsÂ
Have you seen an advt that seems to make exaggerated or false claims? Have you felt angry and frustrated? Bring such advts to our notice and help in promoting responsible advertising.
Misleading, false and objectionable advertisements are a menace in India duping gullible consumers into making unwise choices. The vernacular media is full of advts that are very misleading – such as those based on astrology or black magic. Some claim to cure diabetes, cancer, obesity or hair loss. One such advt claimed it could increase the height of a person aged between 10 and 40 years!
Some of the products making false and misleading claims are heavily priced. There are advts with just a phone number – no details to give the manufacturer/service provider credibility. Yet, consumers are taken in.
There is an urgent need to effectively monitor such advts. CERC has been working aggressively towards reducing this menace by actively monitoring and reporting misleading, false and objectionable advertisements to the authorities and also in providing inputs to policymakers.
We request you to send us any misleading advt that you spot – either in newspapers, magazines, websites or on television. Also, if you have been cheated or misled by an advt that made false claims about a product/service, do write to us giving all details of your bad experience.
Send us a copy of the advt along with the details of when and where it was published/TV Channel date and time. You may send these to us through mail to enr@cercindia.org or write to us at:
