GSK
 GRAHAK SUVIDHA KENDRA
To make advisory services and assistance more accessible to consumers, the Government of India has set up Grahak Suvidha Kendras (GSKs – Consumer Care Centres) in different regions of the country. CERC has been selected by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, to establish and manage a GSK in Ahmedabad.
The Kendras will help consumers, especially those in rural areas, get necessary information and personalised assistance to resolve their problems. The GSKs are envisaged to be one-stop centres providing a spectrum of services to consumers. The project will be networked with the State Consumer Helplines.
The CERC GSK provides pre-purchase advice as well as post-purchase counselling. The GSK staff uses their expertise in mediation to resolve problems between consumers and manufacturers of goods/service providers. Where necessary, they help consumers in registering their complaints in the appropriate consumer fora.
The GSK will create a database of companies for online transfer of complaints for resolution. Moreover, the CERC GSK will operate as a nodal agency and watchdog for the zone in reporting violation of any laws and unfair trade practices, including misleading advertisements, affecting consumers.
The GSK will take special steps to assist vulnerable groups of consumers such as women, children, specially-abled and the aged. Through its GSK, CERC intends to educate, empower and extend protective services to consumers of the region up to village level.
