Builder promises to return the booking amount, but doesn’t
Chhaya Gohil booked a flat in Swaminarayan Park developed by Dharmadev Infrastructure Ltd. She paid Rs. 5.01 lakh as booking amount against the total payment of Rs. 16 lakh. Subsequently, she faced financial problems and decided to cancel her booking. When she spoke to the builders, they agreed to return the entire booking amount. But this turned out to be a false promise. When after considerable effort, she could not get the money back, Chhaya requested Consumer Education and Research Society (CERS) to assist her in the matter.
CERS contacted the builders and tried to convince them to resolve the matter. Several meetings and constant persuasion finally led to a positive result. The builders repaid the entire amount to Chhaya. Happy and grateful to CERS, she gave Rs. 10,000 as a donation to the organisation.
