Mahindra Holidays membership fees refunded 

No “Bliss”

Nina and Sandip Shah had paid Rs. 2,29,090 for the “Bliss Membership” of Mahindra Holidays. For some reason, Sandip had to cancel his membership immediately and wanted a refund from Mahindra. Despite being promised a refund, he received none. The Mahindra officials kept assuring him did not process the refund.

The stakes were high, so a worried and disheartened Sandip came to CERS for help. CERS wrote to the officials at Mahindra Holidays and continuously followed up with them. Persistent efforts by CERS resulted in Mahindra Holidays agreeing to refund the membership fees to Sandip after deducting a nominal processing fee. Sandip finally receiving the long awaited refund of Rs. 2,26,590. 

Persistence pays 

  • Read the document and the fine print thoroughly before signing the membership form. Clarify all doubts with the agent.
  • Understand the exit clause and the procedure.
  • Keep receipts of all payments made and copies of all correspondence for future use. 

Sony waives repair cost of TV panel

Jigneshkumar Makwana had bought a new Sony KLV-40R352E TV from Vijay Sales showroom, worth Rs. 58,500. The TV panel got damaged within the warranty period. On showing it to an authorized service centre, he was told that the damage was “physical” so it would not be covered in the warranty. He would have to bear the repair cost of Rs. 13,570.

However, Jigneshkumar believed that the panel was not working not because of physical damage but a manufacturing defect. Disappointed, he wrote to Sony India Pvt. Ltd. requesting them to consider his request, but to no avail. Finally, he wrote to CERS with whose help, he received a waiver of Rs. 11,500 for repairing the panel. The issue was resolved within 10 days.

Consumer triumphs 


Never give up when service centre employees tell you that for some reason the damage does not qualify for repair cost waiver or replacement. Do not hesitate to write to the company asking for refund or replacement if you are confident that there has been no physical damage at your end.
