Fruits, greens prevent cognitive decline

Rich in nutrients

In a capsule

Middle-aged men who eat lots of fruits and vegetables may be lowering their risk of cognitive problems as they age. A US study published in the journal Neurology, says intake of vegetables (green leafy, dark orange and red ones), fruit (especially berries) and fruit juice (orange juice) may be beneficial for the brain.

Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and nutrients, including antioxidants. These can help protect the brain from oxidative stress and preserve healthy vascular function that is important for cognitive health, says the study.
