Blue Star Water Purifiers – Pure exaggeration

Far-fetched claim

taltlk

The TVC shows toddlers dressed as super heroes, drinking water and raising their sippers. A tagline appears: “Get armed with immunity”. The voiceover says: “Blue Star water purifiers now with Immuno Boost Technology”.  How could a water purifier claim to boost immunity? Immunity depends on several factors (not just pure water) – healthy diet, exercise, intake of vitamins and minerals, and lifestyle. We complained about the advt.

The advertiser contended that the Immuno Boost Technology infuses water with alkaline and antioxidant properties which strengthens immunity. ASCI observed that the advertiser submitted several test reports showing that the treated water being alkaline is electrochemically antioxidant. However, the implication in the context of the advt (which talks of boosting immunity), is not an electrochemical antioxidant property, but a biological antioxidant activity, which was not substantiated. According to ASCI, the claim is misleading by exaggeration and is likely to lead to grave or widespread disappointment in the minds of consumers.
