Yogurt can keep osteoporosis at bay

In a capsule

New research has found that increased yogurt consumption is associated with a higher hip bone density and a significantly reduced risk of osteoporosis in the elderly. This is because yogurt is a rich source of bone promoting nutrients.

The study by Trinity College Dublin, found that men over 60 who eat a pot of yoghurt every day could reduce their risk of developing osteoporosis by 52%, while older women could cut their risk by 39%. Osteoporosis is a chronic condition associated with a reduction in bone strength and an increased risk of fracture.
