Paracetamol in liquid form – drops, syrups and suspensions – is given to children below 12 years of age, the most vulnerable group. The results of our tests on 10 brands – 8 national and 2 local – reveal that they maintain a uniform quality with minimal variations.

- The Indian Pharmacopoeia 1985 has set no standards for minimum volume. So were had to test it against the limits set by the US Pharmacopoeia.
- Crocin had a lower price in drops and syrups against Metacin and Pyrigesic. It also maintained better quality. In suspensions, Calpol is found to be the most expensive on comparing its strength with the rest. The local brand Kopra is the least expensive.
